iNEST in support of the 14th National Conference on Science Communication
Spoke 9 will fund a plenary session with the historian and earth scientist Naomi Oreskes
Trieste, 28th November 2025
From 2nd to 5th December 2025, SISSA will host the 14th edition of the National Conference on Science Communication, a key event for professionals in the field. Organized by the SISSA Interdisciplinary Laboratory, the conference will offer a privileged space for discussion on the ideas, practices, and strategies that are redefining the landscape of science communication.
For this new edition as well, iNEST confirms its support for the initiative. Spoke 9 will fund the plenary session Information Disorders: Old Strategies for New Deceptions, scheduled for Friday, 5th December at 9:30 a.m. The session will feature Naomi Oreskes, historian and Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University, and author of the bestseller Merchants of Doubt. Introduced by journalist, writer, and science communicator Massimo Polidoro, Oreskes will explore how powerful interests have influenced and manipulated the public perception of science over time, with a particular focus on how these dynamics have evolved within today’s digital ecosystem.
