Innovation is Mathematics: a celebration of applied mathematics with the support of Spoke 9
The presentations of the iNEST young researchers’ projects will be featured

On Wednesday, 29th October, SISSA will host Innovation is Mathematics, a day dedicated to the innovation that arises from the application of mathematics in industrial, biomedical, and environmental contexts. The event, organized by the SISSA mathLab group, marks an important milestone: fifteen years of activity devoted to research, education, and technology transfer. The initiative is organized with the support of iNEST Spoke 9, in collaboration with Confindustria Alto Adriatico, FAST Computing, and SMACT Competence Center, under the patronage of the Italian Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIMAI).
A central part of the program will be the contributions of young researchers from Spoke 9, recipients of Young Researcher Grants: Federico Pichi, Pasquale Claudio Africa, and Niccolò Tonicello. Their presentations will illustrate the projects developed within the framework of iNEST funding, highlighting some of the main research areas of the Spoke: machine learning, cardiovascular digital twins, and turbulent flow phenomena. These talks will be complemented by presentations from other mathLab members and the group’s technological and industrial partners.
The discussion will continue over the following two days with (Twinning the Future)², a satellite event offering further scientific insights through presentations by guest speakers invited by the iNEST young researchers.
