The conference on wave dynamics organized by iNEST Spoke 9
It has been funded through the grant of a young researcher from SISSA
Tarvisio, 30th June 2025
For the next five days, starting today, the Alpine town of Tarvisio (UD) will host the conference Future perspectives on Wave Dynamics: quasi-integrability, turbulence and rogue waves. The event is funded by iNEST Spoke 9 and is co-organized by Ricardo Grande Izquierdo, a SISSA researcher and recipient of a Young Researcher Grant.
The theme of the conference is of particular importance for the development of Digital Twins in the marine domain—one of the strategic research areas of Spoke 9. Central to the conference is the study of wave dynamics, with a focus on turbulent phenomena and so-called rogue waves: extreme and unpredictable events that occur in oceans and seas, with potential implications for the safety of maritime infrastructure and the predictive modeling of coastal ecosystems.
This initiative is part of the broader commitment of Spoke 9 to understanding and simulating complex physical systems, with the goal of developing high-fidelity predictive models applicable to a wide range of contexts—from marine environmental protection to the optimization of monitoring and navigation technologies. The conference will feature 16 internationally recognized invited speakers; significant space will be dedicated to contributions from early-career researchers across 6 thematic sessions.
