Cascade Fundings
To stimulate research, development, technology transfer, and training initiatives by Micro, Small, Medium, and Large Enterprises, iNEST Spoke 9 has issued two rounds of Cascade Fundings.
First round of Fundings
Two calls were published and closed in August 2023:
- The call for the Triveneto region, which received a total funding worth 2 million euros;
- The call for the Mezzogiorno region, which received a total funding worth 600,000 euros.

Triveneto
Infrastructural Twins for Evolutionary Monitoring – ITEM (Nplus Srl)
Development of Digital Twins for life cycle management and monitoring of civil infrastructures, to reduce uncertainties in structural assessments and prevent damaging events.
ModeBoat (Plus Srl)
Standardization of recreational boat development through integration of data from sea trials, to reduce costs and increase product quality.
SoLoDTwIN (Transpobank Srl with InfoFactory Srl)
Creation of a Digital Twin of the Gulf of Trieste port system to integrate real-time information on road, sea, and rail traffic, as well as weather conditions.
Driveline Predictive Maintenance – DPM (Carraro SpA)
Design of a system that monitors the operating conditions of professional vehicles such as construction equipment and agricultural tractors in real time to reduce their environmental impact.
Farm to Twin to Fork – FtTtF (ASAC Srl)
Development of Digital Twins of organic matter to assess and estimate the shelf-life of food products, to reduce waste and improve quality.
Pinksand (AcegasApsAmga SpA with eXact lab Srl)
Creation of a Digital Twin for a portion of the water network in the Municipality of Trieste that can improve business planning and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Mezzogiorno
MIX-RAY (MICAD Srl with CO.M.MEDIA Srl)
Creation of virtual 3D replicas of yachts, 1:1 scale, to visualize and manage vessels in a digital environment, in support of production and after-sales experience.
AquaFinDiT (2F Water Venture Srl Società Benefit)
Realization of a digital replica of an aqueduct system through a new theory on mathematical models, to improve water resource management and leakage detection.
GIANT (Key4 Srl with WPS Srl)
Development of a dynamic data center resource management system using Digital Twins to reduce energy consumption and predict potential risks.
ORION (Ekso Srl with Fincons SpA)
Monitoring and optimizing water distribution networks through timely maintenance interventions and predictive analysis conducted with a Digital Twin.
Second round of Fundings
Two calls were published and closed in July 2024:
- The call for the Triveneto region, which received a total funding worth €1,649,506.17;
- The call for the Mezzogiorno region, which received a total funding worth €979,141.89.

Development of a mathematical model to simulate a metal solidification process, in order to optimize production, improve performance, and prevent defects.
ROMed2VR (ENGYS Srl with InSilicoTrials Technologies SpA e RBF Morph Srl)
Creation of a support system to reduce risks in a palliative procedure for improving blood flow in congenital heart defects.
COMET (DYNAMIC OPTICS Srl)
Development of Digital Twins of professional lenses to reproduce optical aberrations of lenses used in multimedia (film, photography, videogames, AR, VR).
Digital Twin for Tomography – DTT (ALIA-MENTIS Srl with CDG Srl and Vetorix Engineering Srl)
Design of a prototype tomographic system to analyze large composite components in order to perform qualitative analysis.
SILENS (NegroponteLab Srl with Dataveneta Computers Srl, BeDigital Srl, and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia)
Creation of a digital tool for integrated management of information concerning pleasure boats.

VETEREA (SPICI Srl with the University of Naples Federico II)
Creation of a Phygital Reality that unites the physical heritage of the nowadays town of Santa Maria Capua Vetere with the ancient Capua Vetere.
Secure Twelthy (La SIA SpA with the University of Salerno)
Implementation of modular Digital Twins of small and medium-sized healthcare infrastructures to identify critical issues, virtualize spaces, and manage emergencies.
CarDio Twin – CDT (Almaviva Digitaltec Srl)
Design of Digital Twins to collect clinical data and tailor treatment plans for people suffering from heart failure.
